Walmart fined in Mexico for abusive practices against suppliers

( December 17, 2024, 13:38 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Mexican competition authority has fined Walmart after finding the company engaged in illegal conduct in the supply and distribution of food, beverages, and household hygiene and cleaning products in Mexico. Cofece said that for 13 years, Walmart used its market power to impose abusive conditions on its suppliers, obtaining illegal advantages over its competitors. Cofece's Board of Commissioners ordered Walmart to stop that illegal conduct, and prohibited other conduct for the next 10 years. The amount of the fine wasn't disclosed, but if Walmart fails to comply with the agency's decision it may face further fines of up to 8 percent of its revenue.See attached file....
