Meta settles Cambridge Analytica privacy lawsuit in Australia for $31.8 million

In a statement today, the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner said that the regulator has agreed to a A$50 million ($31.8 million) payment program under an enforceable undertaking from Meta to settle the civil penalty proceedings filed in 2020. The statement added that the payment scheme will be open to eligible Australian Facebook users impacted by the Cambridge Analytica privacy breach.
