Microsoft’s request to appeal for reducing damages rejected by UPC

( December 13, 2024, 13:56 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Microsoft's bid to reduce a 2 million-euro damages payment, claimed by a Finnish IP licensing firm in an infringement suit, has been rejected by the Unified Patent Court Paris Central Division. Microsoft had sought leave to appeal a prior order that allowed Suinno Mobile & AI Technologies Licensing to lower its damages. Judges ruled that the legal issue raised by Microsoft did not impact the case's final outcome. They also decided the issue did not involve “legal issues which are the subject of different interpretations by the divisions of the UPC … and as such, need to be decided by the Court of Appeal.” Microsoft’s request was deemed unnecessary, and was denied.See court document attached....
