Texas probes of Reddit, other platforms under new privacy laws could foreshadow state enforcement surge

Few states have been more aggressive in privacy enforcement this year than Texas, which today announced probes of 15 tech companies including Reddit, Instagram, Discord and Character AI under two Texas privacy and online safety laws that took effect in 2024.Instagram, Character AI, Discord, Reddit and 11 other tech companies are being probed by the Texas attorney general over their data collection and use practices for minors based on new state privacy and safety laws, in an early sign of what could be a growing trend of aggressive state privacy enforcement across the US in 2025....
