Character.ai sued in US over chatbot safety

( December 9, 2024, 17:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Character.ai is being sued in US federal court in Texas by parents who allege the company knowingly exposed minors to an unsafe product, violating federal and state consumer protection and product liability laws. "Character AI (“C.AI”), through its design, poses a clear and present danger to American youth causing serious harms to thousands of kids, including suicide, self-mutilation, sexual solicitation, isolation, depression, anxiety, and harm towards others," the complaint alleges.
