UK, Cyprus strengthen fight against dirty Russian money

( December 10, 2024, 11:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The UK said it had taken steps to improve the intelligence and security relationship with Cyprus to clamp down on dirty Russian money flowing through Europe. A new National Sanctions Implementation Unit will share information with the Cypriot Ministry of Finance to ensure the effectiveness of Russian sanctions. The UK has also deepened cooperation with Cyprus on serious organized crime. “Together with the Republic Cyprus, we are stemming the flow of illicit finance through Europe to starve Putin’s war machine and protect global stability,” UK Prime Minister Kier Starmer said. Statement below....
