( December 6, 2024, 16:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Granite Vehicle Ventures, a nonpracticing entity, has leveled allegations that two patents directed to a “computer-implemented method, system, and/or computer program product that controls a driving mode of a self-driving vehicle” are infringed by Tesla. Although US Patent Nos. 11,597,402 and 12,037,004 were only recently issued by the US Patent and Trademark Office, they trace their origins to a 2015 nonprovisional application assigned to International Business Machines Corp., then to Daedalus Group, then to Slingshot IOT. Granite Vehicle Ventures says Slingshot IOT assigned it the rights to the applications underlying the ‘402 and ‘004 patents in 2023. Accused in the complaint are all Tesla vehicles compatible with Tesla’s supervised full self-driving program, including “the Model 3, Model S, Model X, Model Y, and Cybertruck including all trims and versions since 2016.”See attached document....
