The telecom giants sailed through with promises to limit price increases and to invest in new networks, a significant departure from the UK merger authority’s past rejection of such behavioral promises. Dealmakers in the telecom sector and beyond will look for similar terms in the UK and, why not, the EU.The success of Vodafone UK and CK Hutchison's Three in securing approval from the UK merger regulator for their tie-up with a promise to cap prices and invest in new networks will heap fresh pressure on the EU's competition regulator and embolden its critics in politics and business....
