Apple's privilege claims over documents in Epic Games' dispute overruled by US judge

( December 2, 2024, 18:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A California federal judge overruled several of Apple's privilege claims on documents at issue in the company's dispute with Epic Games over whether the smartphone maker complied with a court-ordered injunction related to its steering rules. In an order, US Magistrate Judge Thomas S. Hixson said that with respect to document production concerning compliance with the injunction, "Apple has asserted privilege over more than one third of the responsive documents." Epic identified 11 examples of documents that it said exemplified Apple’s overreaching claims on privilege. After reviewing the documents in camera, Hixson ruled on the 11 examples and largely found that the documents weren't privileged but sustained some of Apple's redactions. See court's order. ...
