Amazon's 'refusal' to produce personnel reviews, foreign probe documents opposed by US FTC

( November 27, 2024, 01:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Trade Commission and state attorneys general filed their reply in support of their motion to compel Amazon to produce personnel reviews and documents related to foreign antitrust enforcers' investigations into the company. In its court filing, the FTC said Amazon generally argues that custodial searches will be sufficient to provide the plaintiffs suing the company for alleged monopolization with relevant personnel files and materials regarding foreign inquiries. "At the same time, Amazon argues that the Court should not order targeted collections of the same documents because they are particularly sensitive (personnel files) or because production would violate principles of international comity (foreign investigation materials)," the FTC and states said. "These positions contradict one another and illustrate that Amazon’s arguments are pretextual." See court document. ...
