Corsica Linea, La Méridionale can receive French public-service compensation

( November 26, 2024, 10:45 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: France has won approval for its plan to spend more than 850 million euros in favor of ferry operators Corsica Linea and La Méridionale, to compensate them for the provision of passenger and freight maritime services between the island and the port of Marseille. The support covers the period from 2023 to 2030. The European Commission concluded that French authorities showed that market forces alone couldn't meet the entire demand for towed freight, and also found that the minimum volumes of freight to be transported weren't manifestly disproportionate.Statement follows.
