Indonesia says Apple’s $100 million investment offer not enough

( November 25, 2024, 17:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Apple’s $100 million investment offer to Indonesia is not enough for the government to allow the sale of the tech giant’s latest iPhone 16 smartphone. The Ministry of Industry today said the amount was not “fair” when compared to Apple’s investments in other countries and when compared to investments by other smartphone manufacturers in the country. The government asked Apple for a higher proposal for 2024-2026 that would meet the local content requirement for the iPhone 16, or set up a production facility in the country, aside from fulfilling the shortfall in its 2023 investment commitment. The full statement follows (in Indonesian)....
