Greek state-aid amendments to tonnage program welcomed by EU

( November 25, 2024, 10:52 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Greece’s amendments to its maritime tonnage tax program — to bring it into compliance with EU state aid rules — were today welcomed by the European Commission. In 2015, the commission voiced concerns that the Greek measures, which had been in place since before the country joined the EU, were not well-targeted in terms of scope and the companies it benefited. The commission sent Greece a set of proposals to ensure the support was compliant with EU law. Greece recently accepted an amended version of the proposals, and today the commission said the government must implement it within 18 months.Statement follows....
