French Guiana town sees GDPR enforcement end after appointing data protection officer

( November 21, 2024, 13:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The French data protection authority has closed its enforcement action against the town of Kourou, in the overseas territory of French Guiana. Kourou had been fined 5,000 euros for violating the EU's General Data Protection Regulation by failing to appoint a data protection officer and not cooperating with the authority, the Commission Nationale de l'Informatique et des Libertés. The town has also paid a second fine to cover a daily penalty for non-compliance, amounting to 6,900 euros. The CNIL said it had closed proceedings after Kourou appointed a data protection officer.Statement follows in French. ...
