Healthcare executive ordered to face US fraud claim with antitrust claim

( November 21, 2024, 01:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A Nevada federal judge has affirmed an order denying indicted healthcare executive Eduardo Lopez's motion to sever the US Department of Justice's wire fraud claim against him from an antitrust claim in a wage-fixing case. Magistrate Judge Daniel J. Albregts previously issued an order denying Lopez's motion-to-sever, explaining that the offenses in the superseding indictment were properly joined because of overlapping evidence. Albregts "also addressed, and rejected, each argument lodged by Lopez as to why the antitrust count should be severed from the others," US District Judge Cristina D. Silva wrote in her order adopting Albregts's report and recommendation. "Judge Albregts’s analysis in denying Lopez’s motion to sever is sound."See court document. ...
