Adani Group chair charged in US over bribery scheme

( November 20, 2024, 21:37 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: An indictment was unsealed in US court charging Gautam S. Adani, Sagar R. Adani and Vneet S. Jaain, executives of an Indian renewable-energy company, with conspiracies to commit securities and wire fraud, and substantive securities fraud, the US Department of Justice said. The Indian company isn't named, but Adani is founder and chairman of the Adani Group, a conglomerate that includes a renewable energy firm. Two former executives of a renewable-energy company traded on the New York Stock Exchange and three former employees of a Canadian institutional investor were charged with conspiracy to violate the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act in connection with a bribery scheme involving the Indian firm's pursuit of one of the world’s largest solar energy projects.Statement follows below.
