Flickr sued for copyright infringement in US by ‘Big Appetites’ photographer

( November 18, 2024, 10:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Christopher Boffoli, whose photography series depicting miniature figures alongside life-sized food has been featured on CBS This Morning and in the New York Times, filed US copyright infringement claims against the photo-sharing website Flickr. According to the complaint, Flickr has incurred direct, contributory and vicarious liability for “continuing to allow public access” to 18 photos from “Big Appetites” that are hosted on Flickr’s servers, “despite having actual knowledge of the Infringing Content.” To that end, Boffoli says he sent Flickr takedown notices as required by the Digital Millennium Copyright Act, or DMCA, but the defendant “failed to expeditiously disable access to or remove the Infringing Content.” The complaint seeks an injunction and actual damages or, alternatively, statutory damages under the Copyright Act.See attached file....
