Lenovo loses bid for interim license to Ericsson’s cellular SEPs

( November 19, 2024, 12:17 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Chinese technology company Lenovo's application for a short-term license to Ericsson's cellular standard essential patents, or SEPs, was dismissed by a UK court today. Lenovo had asked the High Court to declare that Lenovo and Ericsson should agree an interim license on fair, reasonable and non-discriminatory terms until the High Court decides a final Frand rate for Ericsson’s SEPs next year. Judge Jonathan Richards sided with Ericsson’s argument that such a declaration would amount to an “attempt to influence foreign proceedings by offering an unsolicited opinion on matters that overseas courts and bodies need to consider for themselves.”Judgment attached....
