Key committee recommends swift passage of Australian merger changes

( November 15, 2024, 02:30 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A multiparty parliamentary committee has recommended the immediate approval of a bill to overhaul Australia’s merger laws. In a report published on Friday, the senate economics committee said the passage of the bill should be expedited so that detail on deal notification thresholds can be made available. The new laws will go to a vote in the Australian senate in the next fortnight. Meanwhile, in additional comments to the report, opposition senators called for the establishment of an “implementation advisory panel” to oversee the rollout of the changes.The report by the Senate Economics Committee is attached....
