Japan's AI and IP report redrafted from IP holders' perspective

( November 18, 2024, 00:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Japanese government released on Nov. 15 a summary of its interim report on intellectual property in the age of generative AI from the IP holders' point of view. The original report, drafted in April and finalized in May, was compiled by an expert panel under the Cabinet Secretariat to address IP issues in the learning, generating and use phases of AI. The report discusses potential issues AI may raise under copyright, design patent, trademark, patent laws, as well as unfair competition prevention law that oversees other corporate IP issues.
