Hewlett Packard patent infringed, valid, UPC says in mixed ruling

( November 13, 2024, 20:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Hewlett Packard Development Co., or HPDC, prevailed in part on allegations LAMA France imports ink cartridges bearing printheads that practice HPDC’s European Patent Nos. 2,089,230 and 1,737,669. The Unified Patent Court Paris Local Division said the ‘230 patent, which relates to a fluid ejection device in an inkjet printer, is not valid. However, HPDC successfully established validity and infringement of the ‘669 patent, which covers the electronic architecture of address generators which supply data that corresponds to images printed by the printhead of an inkjet printer. The UPC issued an injunction barring LAMA from offering or importing ink cartridges for printers equipped with printheads with a fluid ejection device in Germany, Austria, Belgium, Denmark, France, Netherlands, Portugal and Sweden.See attached decision in French....
