Vodafone’s EU court victory gives fresh perspective on tech mergers

But the way judges defined concepts such as “potential competition” and “dominance” is arguably different from how the watchdog has used them to resist recent Big Tech mergers. The court’s stance may come back to haunt the regulator as it seeks to block future tech deals or counterbalance EU companies’ market share by pointing to potential competition from China.The likes of Adobe, Figma, Booking and eTraveli may have a hard time reconciling an EU court ruling in favor of the European Commission today with the regulator’s tough stance on tech mergers in recent years. ...
