Crypto wallet provider's EU trademark application partially refused by EUIPO

( November 11, 2024, 18:12 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The European Union Intellectual Property Office has partially refused registration for the figurative trademark "Safe (WALLET)" from crypto wallet provider entity Safe Ökosystem Stiftung. EUIPO refused the application for classes on electrical and scientific apparatus goods and computer and scientific services due to its descriptive nature. The German foundation can proceed for registration in other classes where the trademark wasn't deemed descriptive, including services for advertising and business, education and entertainment and telecommunications. A small part of the class on electrical and scientific apparatus goods was approved to cover computing devices and downloadable electronic publications.See court document attached....
