Globe Fintech deal in Philippines under in-depth merger review, open for comment

( November 11, 2024, 04:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The planned acquisition by the Philippines' leading fintech company, Globe Fintech Innovations, of ECPay, an electronic customer purchase and payment systems provider, from Globe Telecom is open for public comment as it undergoes an in-depth merger review. The Philippine Competition Commission said the phase one review revealed indications of possible adverse effects on competition, which prompted the phase two review. Globe Fintech, also known as Mynt, operates Gcash, the country's largest financial super-app. Both Globe Fintech and ECPay are part of the Ayala conglomerate.
