Apple, Amazon request for sanctions rejected as US judge seeks more information

( November 6, 2024, 01:15 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A US judge said more information is needed before she can decide whether to allow counsel to withdraw their representation of a plaintiff that had sued Apple and Amazon over an agreement that allegedly violated antitrust laws. "In this case, the Court agrees with Apple that more information from Floyd’s counsel is needed in order to resolve questions of delay, prejudice, and harm to the administration of justice, before the Court can adjudicate the motion to withdraw representation," US District Judge Kymberly K. Evanson wrote in an order. The judge also denied Apple and Amazon's motion for discovery sanctions, saying that same information is needed before she can determine "the appropriate sanction, if any," for Steven Floyd’s failure to comply with her previous order requiring him to respond to outstanding discovery requests and sit for a deposition....
