Consumers file US price-fixing claims against shale oil producers

( November 4, 2024, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A group of retail gasoline cosumers filed a US complaint accusing Permian Resources, Chesapeake Energy, Continental Resources and other producers of shale oil of conspiring to fix the price of retail gasoline by constraining domestic production. According to the complaint, the US experienced record-high crude oil prices beginning on or around January 2021, continuing through the present, and the companies should have increased production to capitalize on the price rise but instead collectively decided against it. Additionally, the complaint says their agreement is complimented by the companies' cooperation and collusion with the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries, which also sought to raise oil prices through managing oil production during the same period.See attached file. ...
