TikTok secures dismissal of photographer's US copyright claims

( October 30, 2024, 10:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: To proceed with allegations TikTok is contributorily and vicariously liable for copyright infringement by its users, photographer Elizabeth Waterman must demonstrate how her work increases traffic on the social media app, how TikTok benefits financially from that traffic, and explain which simple measures TikTok could, but does not, take to supervise or control infringement, a US judge ruled. Although the complaint by Waterman was dismissed, US District Judge Andre Birotte Jr. of the Central District of California granted the plaintiff 21 days leave to amend.See attached file....
