TikTok ordered to deactivate 'feed without registration' feature in Brazil

( November 4, 2024, 16:54 GMT | Official Statement) -- The Brazilian National Data Protection Authority (ANPD) has ordered TikTok to disable its "feed without registration" feature within 10 business days and to implement a compliance plan to enhance age verification mechanisms within 20 days. The directive follows an ongoing 2021 investigation into potential violations of Brazil’s General Data Protection Law, particularly regarding processing the data of of children and adolescents without adequate verification of age. The ANPD cited risks associated with TikTok’s practices, including potential exposure of minors to inappropriate data handling.
