App operators in China's Hunan Province summoned over personal-data violations

( November 4, 2024, 04:27 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The operators responsible for 10 apps in China's Hunan province, including ride-hailing app Kuaidi Shunfeng, recruitment app Yi Zhaopin, and home rental app Chen Real Network Consulting, have been summoned to an enforcement meeting for illegal collection and use of personal information, according to a statement released by the Cyberspace Administration of Hunan Province. The local regulator found violations such as misuse and excessive solicitation of personal information after testing apps related to restaurant takeaways, housing rentals and sales, supermarket shopping, and parking and ride-hailing.
