Valeo granted preliminary injunctions by UPC banning Magna’s products in Germany, France

( October 31, 2024, 13:28 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Valeo Electrification has been granted preliminary injunctions to prevent Magna from offering or supplying allegedly infringing products in Germany and France, according to two orders issued today by the Düsseldorf Local Division of the Unified Patent Court. The Court of First Instance addressed infringement actions brought by Valeo against Magna concerning two patents — EP 3,320,602 B1 and EP 3,320,604 B1 — which both relate to a rotary electric machine. While the injunctions bar Magna from supplying the products in question to new customers, they do allow Magna to fulfill existing supply obligations to BMW, provided it posts a security of 500,000 euros. If Magna doesn't comply with the injunctions, it might face a penalty of up to 250,000 euros per violation. To enforce these injunctions, Valeo is also required to post security of 2.5 million euros for each patent-infringement case.The decisions are attached. ...
