AI-related patent filings continue to rise, led by Fujitsu and NTT, JPO says

( October 31, 2024, 05:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: AI-related patent filings continue on a steady incline, with 10,300 submissions for the year 2022, said Japan Patent Office, or JPO. According to a JPO report which focused on AI core inventions and AI applied inventions, with the largest number of filings in core technology and image processing/recognition. Between 2014 and 2022, Fujitsu filed 1,678 AI-related patents, followed by NTT, Canon, Hitachi and Toyota. The JPO released its previous AI report in July 2019 when AI filings jumped from 3,200 in 2017 to over 5,000 in 2018.
