EU household power costs slightly up, gas down in first half of 2024, EU Commission says

( October 28, 2024, 16:24 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Between the second half of 2023 and the first half of 2024, average EU household prices for electricity slightly increased due to taxation, whereas gas prices decreased, the European Commission said. Comparing the first half of 2024 with the same period of 2023, household electricity prices, including taxes, decreased in 16 EU member states and increased in 11, while gas prices fell in 15 out of the 24 EU countries that report gas prices, the commission added.
