Booking.com fined by South Korean regulator for unfair advertising practices

( October 27, 2024, 03:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Booking.com, the global online travel agency, has been fined 195 million won ($141,000) and issued corrective orders by the South Korean competition watchdog for unfair advertising practices. According to the Korea Fair Trade Commission, the company advertised free airport taxi services for accommodation bookings above certain amounts between June 2022 and September 2023, despite having discontinued the service for users in South Korea. The regulator said while Booking.com initially provided the service until June 2022, it later blocked South Korean users' access to the taxi booking page while continuing to display advertisements for the service, leading to consumer confusion and prompting regulatory action.The statement, in Korean, is attached....
