Use of AI, employment dossiers to score employees governed by Fair Credit Reporting Act, US CFPB guidance says

( October 24, 2024, 19:10 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The Consumer Financial Protection Bureau issued guidance that says employers utilizing background dossiers, algorithmic scores and other third-party consumer reports about workers must adhere to the Fair Credit Reporting Act, which requires the consent of employees for the use of their personal data. The CFPB said FCRA applies when employers use AI systems to score workers for decisions about pay, or to "predict worker behavior, including potential union organizing activity and likelihood that a worker will leave their job."
