European Parliament to remain 'alert' in AI Act’s early days, leading lawmaker says

Benifei was a leading lawmaker in negotiating the landmark law and is now co-chairing a working group dedicated to its implementation that met with the commission’s AI Office for the first time today. Among other things, the lawmakers asked for the list of participants to the code of practice for AI models, and to provide their inputs to the code’s chairs when the first draft is released.Brando Benifei, the co-chair of the parliamentary working group on artificial Intelligence, told MLex that the European Parliament will be attentive in the very early stages of implementing the AI Act because missteps now might be “disastrous.”...
