Google, TikTok file reply in support of dismissing US claims over content moderation

( September 17, 2024, 22:31 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google and TikTok filed a reply in support of their motion to dismiss US claims over the adequacy of reporting processes on their social media platforms, saying that they never promised reporting content will yield a specific result. “By plaintiffs’ logic, the reporting tools are ‘wrong’ when plaintiffs disagree with the moderation decision and ‘right’ when plaintiffs agree with it. Courts have repeatedly dismissed similar theories as barred by Section 230 on motions to dismiss. Plaintiffs similarly wave away the First Amendment, even though their claims derive from editorial decisions about whether to publish or remove third-party content,” they argued.
