European Commission to hold roundtable with porn stakeholders after withdrawing from adult conference

By Frank Hersey ( October 22, 2024, 16:29 GMT | Insight) -- The European Commission plans to hold a meeting with stakeholders in the adult sector as part of its efforts to enforce the EU’s Digital Services Act on content moderation after it withdrew direct representation at an adult sector conference today, MLex understands. The commission denies that it decided not to participate in the event due to pressure from civil society, maintaining that it was an organizational issue.The European Commission, which is the regulator for large porn sites Pornhub, Xvideos, Stripchat and XNXX as Very Large Online Platforms and oversees the sector generally under the DSA, did not put forward a speaker as planned at an adult sector event today due to a “scheduling coincidence.” It has instead offered a roundtable with stakeholders before the end of the year, a spokesperson told MLex....
