Real estate in US, UK, Canada remain common means of money laundering, think tank says

( August 9, 2021, 14:42 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Criminals and kleptocrats continue to launder billions of dollars into the US real estate market, the think tank Global Financial Integrity said in its report "Acres of Money Laundering; Why US Real Estate is a Kleptocrat's Dream." The report analyzed 56 US cases of money laundering involving real estate purchases and tabulated $2.3 billion in transactions. GFI recommended that the US Treasury broaden anti-money laundering reporting requirements for the real estate industry. GFI said 34 UK cases it examined involved $1.135 billion of money laundering, and 35 Canadian cases involved $626 million.Please see attached report....
