Grasim Industries again found to have abused dominance in India

( August 9, 2021, 09:49 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Grasim Industries, a leading textiles manufacturer and part of the Aditya Birla Group, was found to have abused its dominance in the market for supply of viscose staple fibre to spinners for the second time in two years. The Competition Commission of India said that Grasim had required its customers to disclose production details and would then discriminate between them on discounts offered or whether to supply the fibre at all. This breached rules against a dominant company charging discriminatory prices and denying market access, the regulator said. Grasim Industries was fined $40 million last year for substantially similar behavior, so the CCI said it wouldn’t impose another fine.The CCI's order is attached. ...
