Chanel Korea hit by data breach that exposed customers' personal information

( August 9, 2021, 03:20 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Chanel Korea announced on its website that personal information of some of its cosmetics customers was compromised in a data breach that occurred on Aug. 5. The French luxury brand said unauthorized access to its database was detected the following day, confirming the leak of personal information of some customers. The hacked data includes names, phone numbers, date of birth and purchase history, as well as home addresses, sex, and email addresses, if customers consented to provide that information upon membership registration. But no payment information, customer IDs and passwords were leaked, according to the company, which also said it had conducted a system-vulnerability check and supplementary measures as soon as it became aware of the access.The statement from Chanel Korea, in Korean, follows:...
