Google moves for arbitration in US litigation alleging illegal app tracking

( August 7, 2021, 00:50 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Google has moved to compel arbitration in a US privacy case, saying plaintiff Robert McCoy deceived the company about what model of Google-branded smartphone he was using, and the newer model Pixel phone he uses is subject to arbitration to decide disputes. "This motion is timely because McCoy affirmatively misrepresented in his initial and amended complaints that he was using a different, first-generation Google Pixel XL device that was not subject to arbitration. Once Google discovered that McCoy was actually using newer devices subject to arbitration (the Pixel 3a XL and Pixel 5), Google promptly filed this motion," the company told a federal judge in a court filing.See attached document....
