Australia's privacy commissioner reappointed for another three-year term

( August 6, 2021, 06:59 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Australia's top privacy official, Angelene Falk, has been reappointed by the government's attorney general as Australian Privacy Commissioner for a further three years. In a statement today, Australian Attorney General Michaelia Cash said Falk has worked since her appointment in 2018 to increase the public's trust and confidence in the protection of personal information and increased international regulatory cooperation on privacy and data-protection issues. In a separate statement, Falk said she is honored to continue to lead the Office of the Australian Information Commissioner, which is advising the government on planned changes to national privacy laws and has an ongoing lawsuit against Facebook over the Cambridge Analytica scandal, as well as investigations into Clearview AI and Singtel Optus. The full statements from the Australian attorney general and privacy commissioner follow:...
