Capital concentration, common share ownership, face Australian parliamentary probe

( August 5, 2021, 02:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The concentration of ownership across Australian listed companies and the potential risks to competition as a result, are the subject of a new parliamentary inquiry in Australia. In a media release this week, Tim Wilson, the chair of the parliament's economic's committee, said the inquiry is urgent if Australia is to avoid a stock exchange where a handful of 'mega funds' make all the decisions. The committee is expected to look at matters including the likely future trajectory of common ownership in public companies in Australia and the influence of common ownership on markets.
