( August 3, 2021, 17:55 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Federal Trade Commission has begun to send "standard form letters" warning some merging companies that investigations into their planned mergers are ongoing despite the expiration of the US antitrust waiting period, according to a blog post by Holly Vedova, acting director of the FTC's Bureau of Competition. The FTC is dealing with capacity constraints, she said, and so for deals not fully investigated in the initial waiting period, the letters are alerting companies that the investigation has not concluded and the agency may subsequently determine the deal — if closed — was unlawful. Companies choosing to close their deals anyway do so "at their own risk," she said.Statement and document follow below:...
