US SEC to reconsider rules that restrict whistleblower awards

( August 2, 2021, 21:33 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: The US Securities and Exchange Commission will reconsider two rules issued in September 2020  that constrain awards to whistleblowers in securities law cases, SEC Chair Gary Gensler said. The first rule precludes the SEC from granting an award if the whistleblower might earn an award from a different agency investigating the violation. The second rule lowered whistleblower awards based on the size of the award in absolute terms, rather than as a percentage of the penalty assessed.Statement follows....
