Connected-vehicle security targeted in South Korean ICT Ministry's competition for researchers

( August 2, 2021, 03:35 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korea's Ministry of Science and ICT is inviting researchers to take part in the "2021 Cyber Security Challenge," a research and development competition to identify and assist excellent researchers with the goal of securing hacking-attack detection systems for future connected vehicles. Entrants will be assessed for their ability to identify attacks on car infotainment systems and the winning team will receive funding of 800 million won (about $700,000) per year for up to two years for follow-up research. In a statement, the ministry said , "Obtaining security technology is of paramount importance because cyberattacks on autonomous vehicles pose a direct threat to driver safety.” Applications for the competition will be accepted from today through Sept. 15.  The statement from the Ministry of Science and ICT, in Korean, is attached....
