Malwarebytes files in Northern District of California to dismiss Engima second amended complaint

( January 12, 2021, 20:00 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: Cybersecurity firm Malwarebytes is asking the Northern District of California to dismiss a lawsuit filed by software provider Enigma after Malwarebytes listed Enigma's products as "potentially unwanted programs" subject to user removal. Enigma's products are "scareware" that use insidious tactics like flagging harmless files as spyware in order to goad would-be customers into paying for programs such as Spyhunter, Malware asserts. Malwarebyte's classification of Enigma products as "potentially unwanted programs" are "(a) non-actionable opinions, (b) not commercial speech, and (c) not plausibly deceptive to the public," Malware said in a motion to dismiss.
