UK coal-generated electricity falls to record low as country moves to full phase-out by 2024

The share of electricity produced from renewable sources increased from 36.9 percent to 43.1 percent in 2020 from the previous year, while the share produced from coal fell to a record low of 1.8 percent, down from 2.1 percent in 2019. The shift reflects factors including closures of UK coal plants as the country aims for net-zero emissions by 2050, including a full phase-out of coal-generated power by 2024.Report attached....
