Google's in-app payment policy attracts antitrust complaint from South Korean publishers

( July 29, 2021, 07:13 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: South Korean publishers lodged a complaint with the Korea Fair Trade Commission today against Google and its South Korean unit over the company’s forthcoming billing policy, which requires the use of its proprietary payment system for all in-app transactions and a 30 percent commission fee. The Korean Publishers Association, together with several other publishing groups, said in a statement the policy is an abuse of dominance and an unfair trade practice, which violates several provisions in the county’s competition law.  The statement, in Korean, is attached....
