US civil society groups urge passage of Lofgren measure for FBI warrants

( July 26, 2021, 22:32 GMT | Official Statement) -- MLex Summary: A group of 27 civil society groups led by Demand Progress are asking members of the US House of Representatives to support a measure imposing new warrant requirements on FBI searches of intelligence community data. The groups include the ACLU, the Center for Democracy and Technology and the Electronic Frontier Foundation. The measure, offered by California Democratic Representative Zoe Lofgren, would prohibit the Department of Justice from spending funds to search US persons' communications that were obtained through Section 702 of the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act without first obtaining a warrant.See attached document....
